01Origins
Between two countries.
Daniel Matthew Pycock, known professionally as Daniel Pycock, is a British entrepreneur, audiovisual producer and endurance rally driver based in Madrid, Spain.
He was born in Norwich, England. When he was three, his family moved to Las Negras, a fishing village in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park in Almería. He remained there until the age of twelve, growing up close to the sea and the natural landscape of Cabo de Gata.
At twelve, he moved with his family to Aberdeenshire, Scotland, where he attended Inverurie Academy and later Aberdeen College. He enrolled at the University of Aberdeen but chose not to begin the degree, returning instead to Spain to pursue practical work experience. His academic interests had centred on biology—particularly botany, wildlife and marine biology—but his professional path ultimately developed through technical work, production and entrepreneurship.
Moving between Spain and the United Kingdom during his formative years gave him a bicultural, bilingual outlook. He later settled in Madrid, which has been his base for approximately two decades. He is married and is the father of three daughters.
02Production
Built from the technical ground up.
Pycock began his professional training as an electrician before entering the corporate events industry. He developed practical experience across lighting, sound and video and later moved into technical production and project management.
That progression—from the technical detail of a production to responsibility for the whole delivery—became the foundation of his approach to leadership. Equipment, logistics and planning matter, but so do communication, trust, timing and the ability to adapt when reality diverges from the plan.
He founded Visionarea when he was 27. Under his leadership, the company developed as an audiovisual and event-production partner for agencies and corporate clients. In an interview with AEVEA, he described a culture centred on empathy, responsibility, courage, reinvention, passion, teamwork and focus.
From the beginning of 2020, the disruption caused by COVID-19 brought significant operational and governance challenges. What followed was a two-and-a-half-year process of restructuring and transformation. By mid-2022, Visionarea had been reorganised and rebranded as VA 361 Productions, with Francisco “Fran” Gómez joining Pycock as co-CEO.
Today, Pycock is CEO of VA 361 Productions. His role combines strategic direction with the practical realities of coordinating teams, suppliers and partners, managing risk and maintaining consistent delivery across countries and working cultures. Pressure does not create the system. It reveals whether one already exists.
03Transformation
From 152 kg to hybrid athlete.
In 2023, Pycock reached his heaviest weight of 152 kilograms and began a process that would reshape his health, habits and direction. Over the following three years, he lost 60 kilograms through a complete change of lifestyle and sustained training.
His training combined CrossFit, HYROX, powerlifting and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Rather than specialising in one discipline, he developed as a hybrid athlete, combining strength, endurance, conditioning and combat-sport practice.
The process was not a short-term fitness project or a simple before-and-after story. It was a progressive rebuilding of daily habits and physical capacity. Training became connected to discipline and self-knowledge rather than appearance alone.
Outdoor challenges, rally events and survival training became ways of testing whether change could hold when circumstances were uncomfortable, uncertain or beyond his control. This part of his story now informs his speaking and his work on La Mazmorra.
04Endurance
The long road to Dakar.
Pycock’s interest in vehicles has family roots. His father and grandfather were enthusiastic amateur mechanics, and cars were a familiar part of his early life. His own path into rallying began much later.
He competed with Francisco Javier Gómez Espigares, his business partner, close friend and navigator. What began with an old Seat Panda and smaller rally experiences gradually became a serious plan to enter the Dakar Classic.
For the 2026 event, the pair competed as car number 756 in an original 1993 Mitsubishi Pajero prepared with the support of the Spanish Pedrega Team. They completed all thirteen stages of the Dakar Classic and finished 84th in the final general classification.
For Pycock, finishing the Dakar became more than a sporting result. It reinforced a view of performance that applies equally to business and production: preparation cannot predict everything, teams require trust, decisions must often be made with incomplete information and success depends on sustained execution over time.

05Further tests
Capacity beyond competition.
Later in 2026, Pycock took part in the private Spanish selection event for Defender Trophy, an adventure programme sponsored by Land Rover and the Defender brand and conceived as a contemporary successor to the original Camel Trophy expeditions.
The programme tested candidates across physical, driving, teamwork and problem-solving challenges. Pycock reached the Spanish final. Two candidates progressed from that selection, while he was invited to participate in a future edition. As a private selection event, the organisers did not publish public results.
In June 2026, he also completed and passed a 40-hour Level 1 Survival Techniques programme, CTS N1, delivered by the Escuela Española de Supervivencia & Bushcraft and Escuela Supervivencia Activa, with a guarantee from the World Association of Survival Schools.
06Storytelling
Turning experience into conversation.
This Is Not the Way is a documentary project published on YouTube and Instagram. Its first season consists of four principal episodes filmed in Denmark, Panama, Thailand and Finland, accompanied by additional films and trailers.
The series follows Pycock and his business partner Fran Gómez, who both appear on screen as they travel internationally for work and meet entrepreneurs along the way. It combines travel, business and personal challenge with stories intended to encourage entrepreneurs to reconsider the limits they place on themselves. Pycock co-writes, directs and produces the project.
In 2026, he launched La Mazmorra, a Spanish-language video podcast built around candid conversations about discipline, transformation, health, business, freedom and the consequences of choosing not to live on autopilot.
Pycock is the host. The first season features Diego Colungo as a guest, while future episodes bring in different guests and perspectives. The opening episodes include a personal introduction to Pycock’s story, his transformation from 152 kilograms and a conversation about entrepreneurship in Spain.
07Unfold.Life
Become bigger than you thought possible.
Unfold.Life is Pycock’s developing brand, personal philosophy and method. Its central idea is that people begin life small, with only a partial understanding of their abilities, and gradually learn to unfold: expanding through experience, challenge and deliberate change until they become capable of far more than they once believed possible.
For Pycock, unfolding is not a single transformation or destination. It is an ongoing process of discovering capacity through action—committing before every part of the route is visible, adapting to what follows and repeatedly moving beyond self-imposed limits.
He continues to lead VA 361 Productions while developing La Mazmorra, This Is Not the Way, Unfold.Life and future adventure projects. These activities are different in form, but share one thread: building, enduring and telling.
